    • Speaker: Michael D. Warner; Simon, Warner & Doby, L.L.P.
    • Topic: Fundamentals of Bankruptcy Law
    • CPE:  3 hours (11:30 - 2:30)
  • October 30 - 31, 2000 -- IIA/AGA State and Local  Conference "Partnerships That Produce Results" This is the Annual State and Local Conference, cosponsored this year with the Insitute of Internal Auditors. Slated for October 30 and 31 in Austin, Texas, you can take home up to 15 CPE hours. Stay for a third optional day, sponsored by the Austin Chapters of AGA and IIA, and earn even more CPE! This conference brings together the leaders in state and  local governments from around the country who will provide the latest information that you need to succeed in today's environment. This is the ninth year that AGA has offered this special conference for its state and local members.
  • May 9, 2001  GASB 34 training

    Back by popular demand, AGA and the National Association of State Auditors, Comptrollers and Treasurers (NASACT) are once again offering a new interactive "live" teleconference and web presentation on GASB 34 implementation. The teleconference will be on May 9, 2001. Participants will earn 8 hours of CPE.  The training has been nationally prepared by the AGA and NASACT (who will isse the CPE certificates). 


Public Service Plan

For program year '00/'01

  • May 2000 - Mayfest
    • Five members of our chapter worked at Mayfest.
  • June 2000 - Food Bank
    • The CEC voted to contribute $41.20 (one day’s pay at minimum wage) to the Tarrant Area Food Bank.
  • July 2000 - Salvation Army program
    • Members of the Ft. Worth Chapter of AGA contributed $60 to purchase towels, wash cloths, pillows and sheets for the Salvation Army, Ft. Worth Family Center. These items were delivered to the Family Center as our July Community Service project. Thanks, so much, to the people giving to this month's project.
  • August 2000 - TXU Fan Drive
    • TXU (Texas Utilities) usually sponsors a fan drive to benefit those who do not have air conditioning or choose not to use it because it is cost prohibitive to them. We usually purchase a fan and then take it to a collection point.
  • September 2000 - Career Days
    • Participate in college career days
  • October 2000
    • Hangman’s House of Horrors benefiting the Multiple Sclerosis Society.  We plan to work as cashiers for either entrance or concession stand tickets.
    • Toys for Tots - Scramble Golf Tournament at Meadowbrook Golf Course. (October 9)
  • November 2000 - Tarrant Area Food Bank
    • Collect food for needy Tarrant County citizens.
  • December 2000 - Salvation Army Angel Tree       
    • Provide requested gifts to underprivileged children.
    • We will have 15 Salvation Army Tree Angels for adpotion
  • January 2001 - Tarrant County Sheriff’s Dept Toy Drive
    • Tarrant County, Patrol Division, accepts donations of toys for kids found in emergency situations by patrolmen. New or slightly used toys of any kind can be brought to AGA meetings.
  • February 2001 - Salvation Army Project personal
    • Fill a box with personal items for needy families.
  • March 2001 - Mission Arlington
    • Collect household goods for Mission Arlington.
  • April 2001 - Race for the Cure (raise money for breast cancer)
    • Help register or deliver packets to racing teams.

Ongoing activities:

  • American Red Cross -- As disasters occur during the year - disaster relief fund for victims of seasonal disasters.
  • Tarrant County Sheriff's Dept Toy Drive - Tarrant County  Sheriff's Dept, Patrol Division, 5136 N.E. Parkway, Ft Worth, (off North Loop 820 & I35, just south of TU Electric). The Sheriff's Department is accepting donations of toys for kids found in emergency situations by patrolmen. Patrolmen often find that kids involved in an emergency situation are comforted if presented with a toy. New or slightly used toys of any kind can be brought to AGA meetings. Someone will deliver the toys to the Station or you can take them to this location between 7:30 and 4:30. Please let our public service director know if you donate anything on behalf of AGA so we can get credit on the Chapter Recognition Report.
  • Mission Arlington - Please bring household goods in any condition including food, clothing, books, etc. to the meetings. We will have a box set up to collect them. Contact our public service director for details.

Non-CPE Activities

  • Sept 30, 2000        Dash for the Timbers         A. Carter Museum
