We meet on the fourth Tuesday of the month, from September through April, at the Water Street Seafood Company, 1540 South University, Fort Worth, Texas 76107 (817-877-3474),  unless otherwise noted.  (Please note that our September 2001 meeting will be on Wednesday, September 26, 2001.) Our luncheon starts at 11:30 and our chapter program starts at 12:00.   The cost for lunch is $12 for members and $15 for non-members.  We hold our annual golf tournament and picnic in May.

There will be a drawing at each luncheon for members present -- the prize is a free lunch the following month.

Reservations are due by the Friday before the meeting. Call  the meetings director to make your reservations.


Education Plan

  • November 27, 2001 -- Joint half-day training with Dallas chapter (preceded by a luncheon and followed by a social), Arlington, TX
  • December 11, 2001 -- Joint luncheon meeting with Fort Worth IIA & CFE chapters; provides 2 hours of CPE (10:30 - 11:30 before lunch and 12:30 - 1:30 after lunch) 
  • May 8,  2002 -- National GASB 34 teleconference

Public Service Plan

  • May 2001 - Mayfest
    • Volunteers worked at MayFest drinks booths
  • June 2001- Fan Drive
    • Donate box fans to MedStar Fan Drive project
  • July 2001- Fan Drive
    • Donate box fans to MedStar Fan Drive project
  • August 11, 2001
    • Volunteer work at KIDFISH at the Mark Holtz Lake at The Ball Park in Arlington
  • September 2001 - Food Drive
    • Work at food bank and collect canned foods for Tarrant Area Food Bank
    • Send money to American Red Cross
  • October 12, 2001
    • Volunteer work at the Hangman’s House of Horrors, benefiting the Multiple Sclerosis Society.  (There will be a dinner party before this event.  See Non-CPE activities below.)
  • November  2001
    • November 10 -- Joint social event. Work Tarrant County Food Bank
    • Buy gifts for Salvation Army Tree angels --  UPDATE:  The AGA Fort Worth Chapter helped to make sixteen (16) angels happier this holiday season.  Our members purchased 75 gifts valued at greater than $1,000 for the Salvation Army Angel Tree this year. 
  • December 2001 - Salvation Army Angel Tree       
    • Deliver requested gifts to underprivileged children.
  • January 2002 - Tarrant County Sheriff’s Dept Toy Drive
    • Tarrant County, Patrol Division, accepts donations of toys for kids found in emergency situations by patrolmen. New or slightly used toys of any kind can be brought to AGA meetings.
  • February 2002 -
    • Donate to the Half Price Half Pint Library.
    • Work at Cowtown Marathon HQ for registration.
  • March 2002 - Mission Arlington
    • Donate household goods to Mission Arlington.
  • April 2002 - Race for the Cure (raise money for breast cancer)
    • Work at registration or make a donation
  • May 2, 2002 - Mayfest
    • Volunteer work at Mayfest

Ongoing activities:

  • American Red Cross -- As disasters occur during the year - disaster relief fund for victims of seasonal disasters.
  • Tarrant County Sheriff's Dept Toy Drive - Tarrant County  Sheriff's Dept, Patrol Division, 5136 N.E. Parkway, Ft Worth, (off North Loop 820 & I35, just south of TU Electric). The Sheriff's Department is accepting donations of toys for kids found in emergency situations by patrolmen. Patrolmen often find that kids involved in an emergency situation are comforted if presented with a toy. New or slightly used toys of any kind can be brought to AGA meetings. Someone will deliver the toys to the Station or you can take them to this location between 7:30 and 4:30. Please let our public service director know if you donate anything on behalf of AGA so we can get credit on the Chapter Recognition Report.
  • Mission Arlington - Please bring household goods in any condition including food, clothing, books, etc. to the meetings. We will have a box set up to collect them. Contact our public service director for details.

Non-CPE Activities

  • October 12, 2001 --  Dinner party 5 PM at Pappasitos, before volunteer work at the MSS Hangman’s House of Horrors
  • November 27, 2001 -- Social hour with Dallas AGA after joint luncheon / training seminar  
  • May 10, 2002   --  20th Annual OIG Junkyard Dog Golf Tournament and Chapter Picnic
